Tags are the ID or name of each sensor/instrument. For example a Tag can be a flowmeter with the name FIC101.PV, a temperature sensor with name TI112.PV, an actuator, a light bulb, a switch and etc. East tag will spit out a single reading. It can be an analogue, digital or a simple ON-OFF reading. Some equipment like control valves may have 3 readings. For example control valve FC101 will have FC101.PV, FC101.MV and FC101.SP. This counts as 3 different Tags i.e. it occupies 3 tags in the license. From our experience, a typical site has over 10,000 tags. So if you're looking to hookup all your tags into Open-Plant, you will have to use the Enterprise license which gives you unlimited number tags.
Open-Plant does not put any restrictions on the number of users. Unlimited users can use the open-plant client, historian, access web apis, dashboards and etc at any given time. Open-Plant only restricts the the number of tags. The Open-Plant client (which includes the historian) can be downloaded and installed on any machines for free. We like to keep things simple.
A lumpsum/once off payment is provided for the standard and enterprise licenses. If such you do not need to pay any monthly subscriptions. The lumpsum amount is $6,499 for the standard version, $14,999 for the enterprise version.
The monthly subscriptions (in standard and enterprise) includes support. However, if you decide to pay a once off payment, support only covers for the first year. For consecutive years, support needs to be purchased separately. This costs $780 per year ($65 per month) for standard license and $1,736 per year ($150 per month) for enterprise licenses.
No, the licenses do not include any installation or configuration services. Any solutions that require extra services will be charged at standard billable hours. Though, with a paid license we are deemed to provide a strong standard support during and after installation. We want to ensure your Open-Plant system runs smoothly!
What's included in Support?
The standard support includes direct phone calls, emails, system updates and most importantly remote desktop / team viewer sessions
Is there a limit on tag rate?
The Open-Plant licensing model is based on number of Tags, not tag update speed (or messages). We understand that message/speed limit is typical for Cloud IoT Servers like Microsoft Azure, AWS and etc. This is not the case for Open-Plant. With Open-Plant your single Tag can be sending data at 100 milisecond interval but still be counted as one tag. On the other hand, your Tag can also be sending data only once a day but it will still be counted as one tag.
There is no licensing limit on the number Open-Plant Connectors. You can download, install and connect as many connectors as you want to a single Open-Plant Server. The limit is on the number of Tags on the server.
There is no limit on the number of API calls that can be made. You may be coming from the IT/Software development world if you are asking this question. No, Open-Plant does not put any limit on the number of API Calls.
The free and standard version of Open-Plant comes with MariaDB (which is same as MySQL). It is included in the downloadable installer. The enterprise version has the option of using InfluxDB, which is a high speed database capable of handling up top 100,000 Tags per second on a standard sized server. The standard database (MariaDB) only sends 3,000 Tags.
InfluxDB is an ultra fast database which only the Open-Plant enterprise version supports. How fast? you're looking up to 100,000 tags per second. That's enough to power 10 sites/plants/large factories on a single Server. The standard and free version uses MySql or MariaDB. This is a more traditional and easy to use database. From our testing, MariaDB can process up to 3,000 Tags per second with ease.
Open-Plant is able to connect to ERP, CMMS and production planning systems via Open-Plant APIs. We have experience connecting to SAP R/3 Systems and other proprietary databases. Integegration is our bread and butter. Please contact us for more details.
If you have more than one server running Open-Plant, you will need to pay the license cost for the number ofservers. Even if it is for redundancy purpose. However, we may give a volume discount (sometimes up to 50%) depending on the case. Please contact us for enquiries.
We will send you an invoice for the license cost. The invoice amount can either be for a 6 months or 12 months license. Once payment is received, we will then email a serial key for you to install the license.
You can also pay a once off license which will give you a perpetual (forever to use) serial key.
